Watch the reader. Notice and name what the reader has control of given the fourth grade standards. List strengths. Think about what the reader is attempting to do and what teaching points might be appropriate given that work. What instructional next steps would you take?
Watch and listen to the reader with colleagues. List strengths and needs based on grade level standards. What next teaching would lift the reader’s skills and strategies? What compliments could you give the reader. Think about emotional, classroom organization, and instructional supports needed for this child.
